Computer Basics Unit 1

Four Functions of Computer Input, Process, Store, Output
Hardware Electronic and mechanical devices that process the data
Software Computer program that tells the computer how to perform particular tasks by reading the O's and 1's of binary system
Network Two or more computers and other devices that are connected for the purpose of sharing data and programs
Input Whatever is put into the computer system
Data The "symbols" that represents facts, objects or ideas
Output Results produced by the computer
Processing The reading of 0's and 1's determining what action to take
Memory Area of the computer temporarily holds data waiting to be processed, stored, or output
Storage Area of the computer that holds data on along term basis
