Mohegan Alphabet

See the letter, try to make the sound. See if you're correct.

a <o> in pot or rot:
á <a> in father: alternate symbol, "a:"
c (ch+j) similar to the <c> in cello or the /ti/ in question
h /h/ in ahead, ahoy
i /ee/ in knee, keep
k (k+g) similar to the /k/ in skill or ski
m /m/ in mad or ham
n /n/ in no or run
o /oo/ in boot or root or the /u/ in flute and clue
ô /aun/ in raunchy or the /om/ in bomb. This is a nasal sound. Alternate symbol: 8
p (p+b) similar (but with a b sound) to the /p/ in spy and superb or the middle /b/ in suburb.
q /q/ in squint and equip
s /s/ in sew and kiss (and sometimes like /s/ in nasal)
sh /sh/ in show and wash
t (t+d) similar to the /t/ in still or stay
u /u/ in cut or pup
w /w/ in walk or way
y /y/ in yawn or yet
