Co-teaching and student support

TermDefinition
Lead and Support (Also known as One Teach, One Support) While one teacher teaches the content to the class, another teacher assists students.
Station Teaching Both teachers teach the content separately at various stations, or learning centers. Students change stations after a certain timeframe.
Parallel Teaching Both teachers plan the content, but teach it separately at the same time by dividing the class in half.
Alternative Teaching Both teachers plan the content, but one teacher works with a small group while the other teaches the majority of the class.
Team Teaching Both teachers plan the content and teach it to the class as a whole.
Accommodation A support or service designed to help a student access the general education curriculum.
Modification An individualized adjustment to an assignment or test designed to change the standard or what the assignment or test is measuring.
Inclusion The practice of educating students with disabilities in the same environment as those without disabilities.
Instructional Technology Facilitating, learning, and improving student performance through the use of technology in the classroom.
Assistive Technology Any device or form of technology designed to improve the functional or academic performance of an individual with limitations.
