What is a Labor Relations System? LRS, a set of private and public activities, operating in a specified environment, which is concerned with the allocation of rewards to employees for their services and the conditions under which these services are rendered.
What are 3 types of unions? union shop, agency shop, and open shop
When and what caused closed shops to be illegal? Taft-Hartley Act, 1947.
What are the differences in union types? Union Shop - Employer can hire non-union workers, but the new employee must join the union Agency Shop - employees do not have to belong to the union but still pay dues Open Shop - Both Union and Non Union Employees
What is the Norris-LaGuardia Act? 1932, guaranteeing employees the right to bargain with employers
What is the Wagner Act? 1935, banned unfair labor practices by employers and created the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) to enforce labor violations.
What two types of interaction does the collective bargaining agreement entail? (1)negotiations of the work environment, written up & served as the contract between the union and the org. (2)The process of interpreting and enforcing the collective agreement and resolving any conflicts arising from it.
