What internal resources can HR pull from for recruitment? present employees, friends of employees, former employees, and former applicants. Promotions, demotions, and transfers can also provide applicants for the organization.
What factors provide for a decision to promote someone from within an organization? 1) Mngmt says employee is more qualified because of familiarity of people, procedures, policies, & characteristics of the org. 2) Likely to feel more secure & loyal to an org which gives them opportunities. 3) internal promotion is less expensive
What are disadvantages to a promotion-within policy? 1) Excludes employees resulting in favoritism, infighting, lack of varying perspective. 2)Must identify/pressure candidates to accept promos. 3)Rapid growth leads to any employee promo. May obscure mngmt deficiencies. 4) May cause oversupply of mngrs.
What are three ways to recruit internally? promotions, transfers, job rotation.
