Household Income
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Income | is the money received by a household. |
| Regular income | is income received every week or every month. |
| Irregular income | is income received now and again. |
| Benefit-in-kind | is a non-cash form of income. |
| Overtime | The extra hours a person works in a day after they have completed their normal working time. For example, if a person usually works eight hours each day and on Monday they work 10 hours, they have worked two hours overtime. |
| Child Benefit | A payment made every month to the parents or guardians of children while they are still in education. It is paid by the Department of Social Protection. |
| Grant | A payment made to students while they are studying at college. It is paid by the Department of Education and Skills. |
| Jobseeker's Benefit | A weekly payment made to unemployed people. It is paid by the Department of Social Protection. |
