Internetworking The technology and devices by which computers can communicate across differing types of networks
Segment A portion of a network on one side of a network transmission device
Backbone A high-speed network link connecting two segments -This way, only packets whose destination another segment traverse the backbone
MAC Addresses and Internetworking MAC Addresses are used to determine the next hop that a packet takes on its route
