Digital Communication Tools Key Terms

Database A software application that stores a collection of related information and allows easy retrieval of the information.
Field A category that holds one piece of information in a database.
Record A collection of fields for one item in a database.
Primary Key A field that contains a unique identification for each record in a database.
Ascending Sort A sort of data arranged in alphabetical (A-Z) order or numerical (9-0) order.
Descending Sort A sort of data arranged in high to low alphabetical (Z-A) order or numerical (9-0) order.
Query A database object that enables you to locate records that meet a certain criteria.
Report A database object used to present the information in a database in a way that is easy to read.
