What is a declaration? Process of telling the compiler the name of a variable and the type of data to be stored in the
what is data? Information formatted in a distinct way
What is a data type? determine how data is stored, possible values for data.
What is Primitive datatypes? The most basic datea types provides the ability to program words.
What is a String? Class provided by java that provides the ability to program words.
What is a String Literal? Character(s) enclosed in double quotation marks.
define assignment Process of storing a value at a variable's memory location assignment operator
What is syntax? The usage of punctuation within the code to allow the compiler to understand it.
what is program block? the code enclosed between ()
What does int data allow? allows the storing of integers (positive and negative whole numbers)
How much bits/bytes does a int variable take? 32bit- 4 bytes
How much bits/bytes does a real variable take? 64bits- 8 bytes
How many bits does a boolean take? 1 bit
the double data allows? it allows you to input decimal numbers
The boolean data allows? Allows you to store a true or false statement
What does a boolean data type require? requires single quotations marks
Common names for temp variables i, j, k, and n are foe int c, d, and e for characters
What are the rules for naming camelBack notation? First letter is lowercase and each subsequent word, the first letter is capitalized.
What characters should be avoided? One- character variables should be avoided except for temporary "throwaway" variables.
Define Naming rules alphanumeric no spaces special characters except _ $ MUST begin with letter
Define Naming conventions camelback notations names are meaningful One-characer variable names should be avoided
Define declaration Telling the compiler what kind of variables you want to use and store.
How to declare a real variable? double <variable>;
How to declare a String? String <variable>;
How to declare a character? char <variable>;
What is the basic syntax for assignment? variableName=<variable>;
What is main method? The beginning of a program
How do you start a single line comment? //
How do you start and end a multi-line comment? /*-start */-end
What must match the class name? The file name.
