Data Types Program

Questions based on DataType program done in class

What is declaration? Process of telling the compiler the name of a variable and the type of data to be stored in the memory location allocated to the variable.
What is Data? Information formatted in a distinct way.
What is a Data Type? Classification that determines how data is stored, possible values for data, and the operation that can be performed on the data.
What are Primitive Data Types? The most basic data types provided by a language.
What is String? Class provided by java that provides the ability to program with words.
What is String literal? Character(s) enclosed in double quotation marks.
What is Assignment? The processes of storing a value at a variable memory location using =(assignment operator)
What is Syntax? Grammar, structure, or order of the elements in a language statement.
What is a main method? A program begins by calling the main method and begins execution with the first line of code in the main method.
What is camelBack notation? The first letter is lowercase and for each subsequent word the first letter is capitalized.
What is hard coding? To use an explicit rather that a symbolic name for something that is likely to change at a later time.
The int data type allows what? storage of integers (numbers fractional component i.e no decimal point))
How many bits and bytes take to declare an integer variable? (32 bits - 4 bytes)
How many bits and bytes take to declare a boolean? (1 bit)
Common names for temporary variables are... i, j, k, and n are for integers; c, d, and e for characters; x, y, and z for real numbers;
When should one character variables be used? One - character variables should be avoided except for temporary "throwaway" variables.
What is a program block? The code enclosed between {}.
How much bits and bytes take to declare a real variable? (64 bits - 8 bytes)
Declaring a string size depends on what? It depends on the Java Virtual Machine.
What allows the storage of multiple characters enclosed in double quotes? JVM
What are the naming rules? alphanumeric no spaces special characters except_$ MUST begin with letter
What is the Basic syntax for declaration and assignment? <datatype> variableName= <value>;
