Excel Chapter 1

Spreadsheet software

TermDefinition
Active Cell A selected worksheet cell that is ready for data.
Allignment the position of data within a cell.
Autosum automatically adds values for you.
Cell a space that is formed on the worksheet where the columns and rows intersect.
Chart/Graph Data displayed as an image
Column a vertical group of cells in a worksheet identified by letters.
Fill to take info from one cell and take it to another cell.
Formula a math equation that calculates a new value based off of numbers or values that are already in your worksheet.
Operator the symbol that you use in a formula to show what equation you want to perform.
Pie Chart a chart that shows relationships between items.
Row horizontal group of cells identified by a number
Spreadsheet a grid of rows and columns containing numbers, text, and formulas used to perform calculations.
SUM adds all the numbers in a range of cells (a function)
Value numeric characters that can be used in a calculation.
Workbook a collection of related worksheets.
Worksheet made up of rows and columns where data is entered to create an electronic spreadsheet.
