computer security Activities that protect the boundaries of individual computing devices and home and business networks from intruders.
data loss prevention (DLP) Activities that involve minimizing the risk of loss or theft of data from within a network.
hacker A person who has knowledge of computer technology and security settings, which can be used for benign or malicious purposes.
advanced persistent threat (APT) A highly targeted, sophisticated attack tailored to a specific organization, usually to gain access to sensitive information.
authentication The use of passwords or other identifiers, such as fingerprints, to make sure that the people accessing information are who they claim to be and have permission to get such access.
