Term | Definition |

Internet | The physical infrastructure that provides the ability to share resources and communicate across a network of computers. Made up of hardware such as servers, routers, switches, transmission lines, and towers, that store and transmit vast amounts of data. |
web (World Wide Web or WWW) | A system that contains the body of content available as web pages that are stored on Internet servers. |
web page | A single document on the web, which may contain text, images, interactive animations, games, music, and more. Several related web pages make up a website. |
website | A collection of related web pages. |
Web 2.0 | An evolution of the web, considered its second phase, associated with users not only reading content, but interacting by writing content. Provides users with a means to collaborate—share, exchange ideas, and add or edit content. |
Web 3.0 | The next (third) phase in online usage, also called the Semantic Web, which will make it possible for websites to “understand” the relationships between elements of web content. |
