Ergonomics | The study of how a person's work environment and tools affect a person |
Posture | The way a typist sits while at the computer |
Technique | The form and keying style a typist uses while operating the keyboard |
Curved | The way your fingers should be placed on the keyboard |
Workstation | The arrangement of the mouse, monitor, keyboard, copy, and other materials on the desk |
Alphabetic Keys | Letter keys on the keyboard |
Enter/Return | Used to move the cursor down to the next line |
GWAM | Gross Words a Minute; divide the number of standard keyboarding words by the number of minutes a typist was timed |
QWERTY Keyboard | the most commonly used keyboard arrangement |
Spacebar | Used to insert spaces between characters |
Standard Keyboarding Word | five characters or any combination of five characters and spaces |
Homerow Keys | A S D F J K L ; - where fingers should be placed on the keyboard |
Thumbs | Fingers used to press the Spacebar |
Right Pinky | Finger used to press the Enter key |
Left Pinky | Finger used to press the Left Shift |
Right Pinky | Finger used to press the Right Shift |
Right Pinky | Finger used to press the Backspace |
Left Pinky | Finger used to press the Q, A, and Z keys |
Left Ring | Finger used to press the W, S, and X keys |
Left Middle | Finger used to press the E, D, and C keys |
Left Index | Finger used to press the R, F, V, T, G, and B keys |
