Consumer A consumer is a person who buys goods or services for personal use or their own consumption.
Contract A contract is binding agreement,between two or more parties which can be enforced by law.
False Economie A situation, where are purchase appears cheaper turns out in the long run to be more expensive.
Brand The term brands refurs to different makes of a particular product Etc)Cadburys and Nestle.
Cavedt Emptor (Let the buyer beware)means that a consumer had to look out for themselves because there is nobody else to look out for them.
Credit Note Is a document made out to the consumer for the value of the goods returned it allows them to purchase other goods from the shop equal in value goods returned.
Guarantee A promise from a manufacture to offer a refund or a replacement to consumers who have purchased faulty goods.
Warrantee Is an additional promise by a manufacture or seller to repair damaged goods within a started period of time.
Trade Association Is an organisation that represents all the firms that sell a particular good. EG: Car dealers
Merchantable Quality This means that goods should be of reasonable quality considering what was said about them. What they are supposed to do the price paid and how long they should last.
Fit for Propose This means goods should be fit for propose (EG: Microwave should heat food.)
Be as Described If a waterproof jackets are not meant to be waterproof should not let water in.
Remedies The Three Remedies are Replace,Refund,Repair.
Ombudsman Is a representive of the people. The Ombudsman will investigate complaints by members of the republic who have a problem with certain organisations.
False Advertisement This is information contained in a ad that is false + confusion misleading and can cause confusion.
Small Claims Court Takes place in your local court. It cost £25 You could get up to 2000 euro and you don't need a solicitor.
NCA Investigate complaints from consumers about misleading advertisement provide info to consumer about their rights.
The consumer association of Ireland The consumer association of Ireland was set up to protect consumers, to help them understand their rights, help the government plan new consumer choices.
Barcode A barcode is a small rectangle containing black and white lines and figures found on products. Name Price.
Receipt Is written proof to the consumer that they have purchased and paid for good or a service. Eg:(You will see the name of the shop and the date on the receipt.)
Non-Refundable Deposit Means the consumer will not receive the money back from the business if he/she cancels booking changes mind about product.
