The point at which a peripheral attaches to or communicates with a system unit so it can send data to or receive information from the computer. PORT
A series of instructions that tells a computer how to perform tasks necessary to processing data and information. PROGRAM
The internal memory in your computer where data and programs reside while being executed by the CPU. A memory chip that can be read from and written to. RAM
Memory that can be read but not written to. It also describes the chip inside your computer that holds data, instructions, and information. ROM
Stands for "sending particularly annoying messages" or unwanted e-mail. SPAM
A button on the Windows taskbar that displays the Windows main menu. START BUTTON
A blinking vertical line that appears on your screen. It indicates where text will appear when you type in a document. TEXT CURSOR
Software that was written to harm your computer and the data that is stored on it. VIRUS
