Computer Class Terms
| Term | Definition |

| Acceptable Use Policy | Rules to use a company's network/computer for employees. |
| Operating System | They control the functions of the computer. |
| Slide Sorter | The view that shows miniature versions of all of your slides on one screen |
| Bullets | The slide layout you use for a general list of items. |
| Database | A collection of information that is organized so that its contents can easily be accessed, managed, and updated. |
| Table | Where you setup the database to get ready to use it. |
| Query | Searches for information in the database. |
| Report | Displays information from the database. |
| Form | Where you enter information into the database. |
| Internet | Interconnected networks connecting millions of computers around the world. |
| World Wide Web | A subset of the internet. Consists of interconnected pages. |
| Internet Service Provider | Provides internet access for a fee. |
| Web Browser | Need it to view the internet. |
| Uniform Resource Locater | Website address. |
| Domain | What group the website belongs to. |
| COM | Commercial/business |
| NET | Network |
| ORG | Organization |
| GOV | Government |
| MIL | Military |
| EDU | Education |
| INT | International |
| Hyperlink | Gives you access to a webpage when you click on it. |
| Search Engine | Use this when you don't know the URL. |
| Search Operators | Narrows key search results. |
| + and - | Search operators used to narrow search results. |
| Ethics | Principles to guide your behavior. |
| Freeware | Copyrighted software that is free. |
| Shareware | Free trial period, but payment must be made to the owner for permanent use. |
| All Rights Reserved | The creator owns all rights to the software and says what you, the buyer, can do with it. |
| Creative Commons | Provides flexibility and freedoms for authors, artists, and educators. |
| Spam | Unsolicited email sent to many users. |
| Attachment | A file sent with an email message. |
| Computer Hardware | Parts of the computer you can touch (keyboard, monitor, mouse, ETC) |
| CPU | Central Processing Unit. Processes program instructions |
| RAM | Random Access Memory. Holds program instructions temporarily loses all data when power goes out. When RAM is low, your computer slows down. |
| Input Devices | Keyboard, mouse, microphone, scanner |
| Output Devices | Monitor, printer, speakers, projector |
| Bytes Order | Byte, Kilobyte, Megabyte, Gigabyte, and Terabyte. |
| Hertz | Measures processing speed of the CPU |
| Multitask | Being able to use more than one program at a time. |
