Matching Micro clinicals: Genus and growth medium.

Bordetalla. Regan-Lowe agar.
Borrelia. BSK (Barbour Stoenner Kelly).
Brucella. Ruiz Castaneda.
Campylobacter. CAMP at 42C NOT 27C.
Clamydia. Cannot be grown on an artificial medium. It can be grown on any of these cell lines treated with cycloheximide: McCoy, HEp-2, HeLa, or buffalo green monkey cells.
Chlamydophila. Cannot be grown on an artificial medium. It can be grown on any of these cell lines treated with cycloheximide: McCoy, HEp-2, HeLa, or buffalo green monkey cells.
Clostridium. Anaerobic blood agar.
Corynebacterium. Aerobically on Tinsdale agar. Also Loeffler's medium, blood agar, and trypticase soy agar (TSA.
Enterococcus. 6.5% NaCl, bile-esculin agar.
Escherichia. MacConkey agar.
Francisella. Chocolate agar and Thayer-Martin media with appropriate additives. MacConkey agar is not reliable.
Haemophilus. Chocolate agar with hemin and NAD+.
Helicobacter. Medium containing antibiotics against other fecal flora.
Legionella. BCYE (Buffered charcoal yeast extract).
Leptospira. Specialized Leptospira Enrichment media.
Listeria. Enriched media. Mueller-Hinton agar.
Mycobacterium. Lowenstein-Jensen agar for TB. Mouse and armadillo foot pads for M. leprae.
Mycoplasma. Oxoid Mycoplasma Agar Base. Rarely cultured.
Neisseria. Thayer-Martin agar.
Pseudomonas. MacConkey agar.
Rickettsia. Brain heart infusion broth and Eagle's minimal essential medium. Rarely cultured.
Salmonella. MacConkey agar.
Shigella. Hektoen agar.
Staphylococcus. Enriched broth of blood medium. All species grow in the presence of bile salts.
Streptococcus. Blood agar.
Treponema. None!
Vibrio. Blood, MacConkey. Stimulated by NaCl.
Yersinia. MacConkey, CIN agar. (Cefsulodin, Irgasan, Novobiocin)
