present tense (general cause/condition) Ex: Si l'ouragan arrive, | present tense (timeless, automatic effect) je reste chez moi. |
present tense (if a condition/event occurs) Ex: Si l'ouragan arrive ce soir, | futur proche/ futur simple/ imperative (possible future events) -on va rester chez soi demain. [futur proche] -les gens restera chez eux. [futur simple] -restez-vous chez vous! [imperative] |
imparfait (if a condition/event were to occur) [contrary to fact statements] Ex: Si on donnait à manger aux animaux du zoo, | conditionnel (what would happen) on mettrait leur vie en danger. |
plus-que-parfait (if a event had occurred in the past) Ex: Si nous avions fait du camping, | conditionnel passé (what could have happened differently) nous aurions économisé de l'argent. |
