Networking Terms
| Term | Definition |

| Computer Network | is a group of computers connected together in a way that allows information to be exchanged between the computers |
| Ethernet | a widely used communications protocol for a LAN and uses a twisted pair of coaxial cables |
| TCP/IP | TCP/IP is used to connect networks in exactly the same way |
| Intranet | A private network that usually gives employees access to company publications |
| IP Addresses | A number used to uniquely identify a computer on the Internet |
| Client to Server Network | A server is a computer system that selectively shares its resources A client is a computer that initiates contact with a server to use a resource |
| Peer to Peer Network | A network where all networks are on the same level and users have direct access to other computers |
| wired network | A wired network uses cables to connect to the network |
| wireless network | A wireless network doesn’t use cables |
| LAN (Local Area Network) | is a computer network covering a small geographic area, like a home, office, or group of buildings |
| WAN (Wide Area Network) | is a computer network that covers a broad area (e.g., any network whose communications links cross metropolitan, regional, or national boundaries |
| WiFi | a family of wireless networking standards short for Wireless Fidelity |
| Bluetooth | a standard for low-cost, short-range, wireless connections between Bluetooth-enabled devices |
