Person specification This is a description of the ideal person to do the job. It includes detail on the spefic skills, qualifications and knowledge the individual should posess in order to do the job effectively.
Recruitment This is the process of attracting a group of potential candidates with appropriate skills and abilities to apply for a specific vacancy that an organisation has available.
Selection This is choosing the most suitable canidate from the applicants attracted through recruitment.
Supervisors recomendations They will know the strengths, weaknesses and behaviour of employees.
Previous employees Contacting retired or other people who previously worked for the company.
Previous applicants Application forms from previous unsuccessful appliacnts may identify a suitable candidate.
Employee Recommendations Professional employees may have similarly qualified friends employed in other organisations who may be encouraged to apply for vacancies.
Someone working in an organisation Information is available through personal records and performance appraisals.
Internal promotion Based on suitablility, seniority, length of service
Internal demotion When someone loses or gives up a position of responsibility the vacancy is usually filled from existing staff.
Human Resource Management The management of people in an organisation. It is the process of evaluating the personnel needs of the organisation and finding suitable people to fill those needs.
Workforce planning Planning to have the right people with the right skills. This is done by identifying the type and number of employees needed in the organisation and planning how these needs are met.
