TermDefinition
Word processing Software that is used to create and edit text documents.
Edit Change or rewrite your document to improve it.
Proofread Check to make sure the document makes sense and there are no errors in spelling, grammar, or punctuation.
Cut Select and remove text.
Copy Duplicate
Paste Place in a new location.
Synonym Words that have similar meanings.
Format Refers to the way text looks and the way it is arranged on a page.
Font The shape of the letters, numbers, and other characters.
Orientation Describes the direction of the page or the paper you will print on.
Alignment Describes whether the text is lined up on the left, right, center, or across the page.
Bulleted list Presents information in no particular order.
Numbered list Lists information in specific order, such as steps.
Margin Space around the sides,top, and bottom of the paper.
Default Setting that the computer automatically selects unless you change it.
Tab Set distance for moving the insertion point.
Indent Determines the distance of a paragraph from either the left or right margin.
Quotation Exact words that someone else wrote or said.
Header Shows information at the top of each page.
Footer Shows information at the bottom of each page.
Citation Detailed information about each source.
Title page Separate page at the beginning of a report or research paper.
Desktop publishing Allows you to use text, graphics,photographs, and other features to create newsletters, brochures, Web pages, and similar documents.
