Junior Cert. Business Studies

TermDefinition
Insurance Broker Sells insurance policies on behalf of different insurance companies and can advise customers about the policy best suited to their needs.
Insurance Agent Sells insurance policies on behalf of one insurance company only.
Proposal Form An application form filled out by the person applying for insurance.
Cover Note A document proving that an insurance policy exists.
Exclusion Causes Point out the occasions when the insurance company will not pay out on the policy, eg. Acts of God
Insurance Policy The contract between the insurance company (the insurer) and the insured person person. This normally outlines the exclusion clauses and excess clauses.
Excess Clauses state the value of the risk being incurred by the insured. eg. the first €400 of any claim.
