Computer is an electronic device that processes data
personal computer is used by one person at a time
central processing unit is like the computer's brain
bit is the smallest unit of information, always either a 1 or a 0
byte the building block for all information that flows through a computer
hardware is the collection of physical devices that make up your computer system
input is when a user enters information into a computer
output is when a computer delivers information back to a user
read-only memory memory is permanent information on your computer
random-access memory memory is temporary information that your computer usesonly when you work with a particular file
storage device is lke yor long term memory such as a hard drive
software is a set of instructions that makes is possible for your computer to perform tasks
operating system is the main program that makes your computer work
network is a group of computers connected together
drive is the largest storage area
folder is a place to save and organize files
file is a collection of data
save as lets you rename a file and at the same time copy the file by saving it to a new location
shortcut is an icon that is a direct link to a file of folder
keyword is a word keyed into a cearch box that matches the topic you are looking for
content search it is like using a book's table of contents
keyword search its search results include all of the topics in which the keywords appear
