Computer An electronic device that processes data
Personal Computer (PC) Is used by one person at a time
Central Processing Unit (CPU) It is like the computers brain
Bit Is the smallest unit of information always either a 1 or a 0
Byte The building block for all information that flows through a computer
Hardware Is the collection of physical devices that make up your computer system`
Input Is when a user enters information into a coumputer
Output Is when a computer delivers information back to a user
Random-Access memory (RAM) Is where a computer stores data. This memory is temporary information that your computer uses only when you work with a particular file. It is erased when you turn off your computer.
Read-Only Memory Is where a computer stores data. This memory is permanent information on your computer. ROM holds your computer's built instructions and cannot be erased or changed
Storage Device It is like your long term memory where you keep memories of important events
Software Is a set of instructions that make it possible for your computer to perform tasks
Operating System (OS) Is the main program that makes your computer work
Network Is a group of computer connected together
Drive Is the largest storage area
Folder Is a place to save and organize files
File Is a collection of data
Save As This is how you can duplicate or copy a file
Shortcut Is an icon that is a direct link to a file or folder
Keyword Is a word keyed into a search box that matches the topic you are looking for
Content Search Look for information from a list categories and topics. This is like using a books table of contents
Keyword Search Key one or more keywords. The search results include all the topics in which the keywords appear
