TermDefinition
Computer Electronic device that processes data.
Personal computer (PC) Used by one person at a time.
Central processing unit (CPU) The computer's brain.
Bit Smallest unit of information, always either a 1 or a 0.
Byte The building block for all information that flows.
Hardware Collection of physical devices that can make up your computer system.
Input When a user enters information into a computer.
Output When a computer delivers information back to the user.
Random-access memory (Ram) Memory is permanent information on your computer.
Read-only memory (ROM) Memory that is temporary information that your computer uses only when you work with a particular file.
Storage device Such as Hard drive, flash drives, CD's and DVD's and Floppy disk.
Software A set if instructions that makes it possible for your computer to perform tasks.
Operating System (OS) The main program that makes your computer work.
Network A group of computers connected together.
Drive The largest storage area.
Folder A place to save and organize files
File A collection of data.
Save as Allows you do to duplicate, or copy, a file
Shortcut An icon that is a direct link to a file or a folder.
Keyword a word or words keyed into a search box that matches the topic your looking for.
Content search Look for information from a list of categories and topics.
Keyword search To key one or more keywords.
