| Term | Definition |

| Computer | Electronic device that processes data. |
| Personal computer (PC) | Used by one person at a time. |
| Central processing unit (CPU) | The computer's brain. |
| Bit | Smallest unit of information, always either a 1 or a 0. |
| Byte | The building block for all information that flows. |
| Hardware | Collection of physical devices that can make up your computer system. |
| Input | When a user enters information into a computer. |
| Output | When a computer delivers information back to the user. |
| Random-access memory (Ram) | Memory is permanent information on your computer. |
| Read-only memory (ROM) | Memory that is temporary information that your computer uses only when you work with a particular file. |
| Storage device | Such as Hard drive, flash drives, CD's and DVD's and Floppy disk. |
| Software | A set if instructions that makes it possible for your computer to perform tasks. |
| Operating System (OS) | The main program that makes your computer work. |
| Network | A group of computers connected together. |
| Drive | The largest storage area. |
| Folder | A place to save and organize files |
| File | A collection of data. |
| Save as | Allows you do to duplicate, or copy, a file |
| Shortcut | An icon that is a direct link to a file or a folder. |
| Keyword | a word or words keyed into a search box that matches the topic your looking for. |
| Content search | Look for information from a list of categories and topics. |
| Keyword search | To key one or more keywords. |
