| Computer | A computer is an electronic device that processes data. |
| Personal computer (PC) | A personal computer (PC) is used by one person at a time. |
| Central Processing Unit (CPU) | is a small chip that performs calculations and carries out all the instructions you give to your computer. |
| Bit | A bit is the smallest unit of information. |
| Byte | the building block for all information that flows through a computer. |
| Hardware | is the collection of physical devices that make up your computer system. |
| Input | is when a user enters information into a computer. |
| Output | is when a computer delivers iformation back to a user. |
| Read-only memory (ROM) | This memory is permanent information on your computer. |
| Random-Access Memory (RAM) | This memory is temporary information that your computer uses only when you work with a particular file. |
| Storage device | when you save a file, you move the information from the RAM to a storage device. |
| Software | is a set of instructions that makes it possible for your computer to perofmr tasks. |
| Operating system (OS) | is the main program that makes your computer work. |
| Network | is a group of computers connected together. |
| Drive | is the largest storage area. |
| Folder | is a place to save and organize files, such as documents or pictures. |
| File | is a collection of data. |
| Save As | you can duplicate, or copy, a file by using the save as command. |
| Shortcut | is an icon that is a direct link to a file or folder. |
| Keyword | is a word (or words) keyed into a search box that matches the topic you are looking for. |
| Content Search | Look got information from a list fo categories and topics. |
| Keyword Search | key one or more keywords. |
