| bit | smallest unit of information , either a 1 or a 0 |
| byte | the building block for all information that flows through a computer |
| Hardware | the collection of physical devices that make up your computer device |
| Input | when a user enters information into a computer |
| Output | when a computer delivers information back to a user |
| random -access memory | where a computer stores data in |
| read-only memory | a storage device |
| storage device | a hard drive , a server , or a disk |
| Software | a set of instructions that makes it possible for your computer to perform tasks |
| Operating system | main program that makes your computer work |
| network | a group of computers connected together |
| drive | the largest storage area |
| folder | a place to save and organize files , like documents or pictures |
| file | collection of data |
| Save As | this lets you rename a file , and cope the file by saving it to a new location |
| shortcut | a icon that is a direct link to a file or folder |
| keyword | words keyed into a search box that mtaches topic you are looking for |
| Content search | look for inforamtion from a list of catergories and topics |
| Keyword search | key one or more keywords |
