Keyboarding Vocabulary

posture the postion of a person's body while standind or sitting
alt+tab (try it!) switch between widows
hardware (computer science) the mechanical, magnetic, electronic, and electrical components making up a computer system
homework schoolwork that a student is required to do at home.
accuracy the quality or state of being correct or precise
wpm The definition of WPM is "Words Per Minute"
backspace to move the typing element of a typewriter, the cursor on a computer display, etc., one space backward, as by depressing a special key.
keyboard shortcut A keyboard shortcut is a combination of keys that, when pressed simultaneously, perform some task that ordinarily requires use of a mouse or other input device and may take longer to do
caps lock Caps lock is a lock key found on many computer keyboards, depending on the local keyboard layout they implement.
keyboarding posture known as hand-span. Hand-span tells you how far you should sit away from your keyboard. If you sit too far away, you will not be able to reach the keys above homerow
control key (ctrl) A key used to access commands through the keyboard rather than the menus. CTRL commands are commonly shortcuts
Qwerty denoting the standard layout on English-language typewriters and keyboards, having q, w, e, r, t, and y as the first keys from the left on the top row of letters.
cursor control Cursor controls keys are the keys on computer keyboards that move the cursor.
service key Service definition is key to service management. Service definition enables both the customer and the service provider to know what to expect and not expect from a service
delete When struck on a computer keyboard during text or command editing, the delete key discards the character ahead of the cursor's position
shift key a slight change in position, direction, or tendency
enter/return Alternatively referred to as a return key, the enter key when referring to a keyboard is used to return a cursor to the next line or execute a command or operation.
