what is penetration? 1. Food or liquid into the airway: enters the laryngeal vestibule but above the TFV it is penetration
what is aspiration 2. Food or liquid indo the airway: goes below the TVF: Aspiration
what is residue 3. Residue: Leftovers. Normal swallow there should be nothing left over in the mouth or pharyngeal area
what is bolus 4. Bolus: food or drink section. The stuff I put into a little ball. It is organized into a little ball
what is pneumonia 5. Pneumonia: infection of the lungs. One reason for pneumonia is because of aspiration and aspiration is related to bacterial. Viral pneumonia is unrelated to slp.
what is malnutirion 6. Malnutrition: are they getting enough iron, protein, sustenance
what is dehydration 7. Dehydration: not enough fluids in the body. This will affect the amount of calcium in the blood
