Internet a gigantic computer network that connects computers around the world.
World Wide Web part of the internet. It is a way of accessing the huge collection of information, services, and the web sitesavailable through the internet.
Web site a specific location on the Web that contains a collection of related files and resources by a person, group, or organizastion.
Uniform resource locator (ulr) a web site adress
Internet service provider (ISP) a company that sells you access to the internet, usually for a monthly fee.
Web browser a software program that lets you search the Web and internet with Web sites.
Electroinc mail (E-mail) asnother way that you can share information using the internet.
Netiquette refers to the good manners one uses in electronic communications.
Spam junk mail that tries to sell you things illegally.
Firewall is a hardware or software that protects a computer or network from intruders.
home page the first web page you see when your browser opens.
drill down a way to find more specific information.
site map an index of all the main pagesin the site that you may use to jump straight to a page without drilling down.
bookmark a shortcut stored in your browser that takes you directly to a web page.
history a record of the web pages you where on.
print preview allows you to view a web page so you can see how it will look when it is printed.
Favorites is what a bookmark is called.
search engine a special kind of Web site that lets you search for other web pages using key words
Boolean search a search that uses keywords plus special symbols to find the exact information you want by eliminating search results that are too general or too broad
