| internet service provider | a company that sells you access to the internet for a monthly fee. |
| web browser | a software program that lets you surf the web and interact with web sites. |
| electronic mail | another way that you can share information using the internet. |
| nentiquette | good manners one uses in electronic communications. |
| spam | junk mail that is sent in bulk to peoples email accounts. |
| firewall | a hardware or software that protects a computer or network from intruders |
| home page | the first web page you see when your browser opens. |
| drill down | you click a link that opens a new web page within a site. |
| site map | an index of all the main pages in a site that you may use to jump straight to a page without down drilling. |
| bookmark | a shortcut stored in your browser that takes you directly to a webpage. |
| favorites | If theres a webpage you use a lot you can add it to your favorites and its like a shortcut from your browser. |
| history | the list of pages you've visited within the last few days. |
| print preview | allows you to view a page so you can see how it looks before you print it. |
| search engine | a special kind of website that lets you search for other web pages using one key word. |
| boolean search | a search that uses keywords and special symbols to find the exact information you want. |
