web browser a software program that lets you surf the web and interact with web sites
electronic mail another way that you can share information using the internet
netiquette good manners one uses in electronic communications
spam junk mail that is sent in bulk to peoples email accounts
firewall a hardware or software that protects a computer network from intruders
home page the first web page you see when you see when your browser opens
drill down you click a link that opens a new web page within the site
site map an index of all the main pages in the site that you may use to jump straight to a page without drilling down
bookmark is a shortcut stored in your browser that takes you directly to a web page
favorites when you put a web page in favorites you can click on favorites and go straight to it
history it shows what all you have viewed
print preveiw allows you to view a page so you can see how it looks before you print it
search engine a special kind of web site that lets you search for other web pages using key words
boolean search a search that uses keywords plus special symbols to find the exact information you want by eliminating search results that are too general or to broad
