Internet a gigantic computer network that connects computers across the world
World Wide Web a way of accessing the huge collection of information, services, and Web sites available through the Internet
Web Site a specific location on the Web that contains a collection of related files and resources by a person, group, or organization
Uniform Resource Locator (URL) is every Web site's own address that no other site can use
Internet Service Provider a company that sells you access to the Internet, usually for a monthly fee
Electronic Mail (e-mail) another way that you can share information using the Internet
Netiquette refers to the good manners one uses in electronic communications
Spam like junk mail; it is sent in bulk to many people's e-mail acounts
Firewall is hardware or software that protects a computer or network from intruders
Home Page the first Web page you see when your browser opens
Drill Down click a link that opens a new Web page within the site from your home page
Site Map an index of all the main pages in the site that you may use to jump straight to a page without drilling down
Bookmark a shortcut stored in your browser that takes you directly to a Web page
Favorites are what bookmarks are called in your Internet Explore
History the pages that you visited for the past few days or even weeks
Print Preview allows you to view a page so you can see how it will look when it is printed
Search Engine a special kind of Web site that lets you search for other Web pages using keywords
Boolean Search a search that uses keywords plus special symbols to find the exact information you want by eliminating search results that are too general or too broad
Web Browser a software program that lets you surf the Web and interact with Web sites
