Internet is a giganitc computer network that connnects computers across the world
World wide web (the web) is only one part of the interent. it is a way of accesing the huge collection of information, services, and the wb sites available through the internet
Uniform resource locator (URl) you can go directly to a web site.
internet service provider (ISP) is a compony that sells you acces to the internet, usually for monthly fee
Web browser is a software program that lets you surf the web and interact with web sites
electronic mail is another way that you can share
netiquette it refers to the good manners one uses in electronic communications
spam is like junk mail
firewall is hardware or software that proctects a computer or network from intruders
home page it is the first web page you see when your browser opens
drill down to find more specfic information
site map an index of all main pages in the site that you may use to jump straight to a page without drilling down
bookmark is a shortcut stored in your browser that taskes you directly to a web page
favorties they are bookmarks
history the record of the sites you have been on
print preview allows you to view a page so you can see how it will look when it is printed
search engine is a special kind of web site that lets you serch for other web page using keywords
boolesn search to get even better serch results , this is a search that uses keywords plus special symblos to find exact information you want by eliminating search results that are too general or too broad
web site is a specific location on the web that contains a collection of related files and resources by a person, group, or organizaton.
