internet the internet is a gigantic computer network that connects computers across the world. it has changed the ewau people comminicate, work, and have fun.
world wide web the world wide web (the web) is only one part of the internet. it is a wau accessing the huge collection of information, services, and web sites available through the internet.
website a website is a specific location ib tge web that contains a collection of related files and resources by a person, group, or organization.
uniform resource locator (url) just as every home or business has its own address, every web side has its own address tha no other site can use. this address is called a uniform resource locator.
internet service provider (isp) is a company that sells you access to the internet, usuallt for a monthly fee.
web browser a web browser is a software program tha lets you surf the web and interact with web sites.
electronic mail (email) is another way that you can share information using the internet.
netiquette refers to the good manners one uses in electronic communications.
spam spam is like junk mail.
firewall a firewall is hardware or software that protects a computer or network form intruders.
home page the first page you see when your browser opens is called your home page.
drill down when you explore a website, you usually start with the home page and drill down to find more specific information.
site map a ling to the site map, an index of all the main pages in the site that you may use to jump straight to a page without drilling down.
bookmark bookmark is a shortcut stored in your browser that takes you directly to a web page.
favorites in the internet explorer browser, bookmarks are called favorites.
history this record is called the history of your web site vistits.
print preview print preview allows you to wiew a page so you can see how it will look when it is printed.
search engine a search engine is a special kind of web site that lets you search for other web pages using keywords.
boolean search to get even better search resilts, you can do a boolean search.
