| Cell | the intersection of a row and a column |
| Column | vertical columns that are identified by letters |
| Row | horizontal rows that are identified by numbers |
| Cell address | a cells column letter and row number form a cell name (ex |
| Active cell | the current cell that you are working with; it is surrounded by a heavy black outline |
| Range | a block of adjoining cells |
| Range address | consists of the cell address for the upper-left cell, a colon, then for the lower right cell |
| Workbook | a saved spreadsheet file |
| Worksheet | an individual page or sheet within a workbook |
| Worksheet tab | used to identify a worksheet |
| Value | numeric data (numbers) that is entered into a spreadsheet as data that will can be calculated |
| Numeric label | numbers that are entered into a spreadsheet to label information |
| Alphabetic label | text (alphabets or symbols) that is entered into a spreadsheet to label information |
| Chart | provides a graphic image of the data in your spreadsheet. It reveals a trend or compares data |
| AVERAGE Function | calculates the average of all the values in the selected range |
| SUM Function | calculates the cells or range of cells you want to total |
| Fill | used to copy a formula from one cell to a range of adjoining cells |
| MAX Function | finds the maximum (largest) value within the range specified as the argument |
| MIN Function | finds the minimum (smallest) value within the range specified as the argument |
| Function | performs a predefined calculation in a formula to help you create formulas more quickly |
| Formulas | performs calculations on the values |
| Operators | basic formulas use operators to add (+), subtract (-), multiply (*), or divide (/) information |
| Currency format | changes the appearance of the values to dollar values with a dollar sign |
| Cell Style | a defined set of formatting characteristics, such as fonts and font sizes, number formats, cell borders, and cell shading |
| Percentage format | changes the appearance of the values to a percent |
| Wrap Text | cell formatting that forces text to break into multiple lines within a cell |
