The Consumer

Consumer anyone who buys goods or services for their own use
Brand the identity of a particular product
Receipt written proof to the consumer that they have purchased and paid for a good or service
Credit note A document made out to the consumer for the value of the goods returned. It allows them to purchase other goods from that shop equal in value to the goods returned.

Guarantee promise from a manufacturer to offer redress to consumers free of charge who have purchased faulty goods within a stated period of time
Warranty is an additional promise by a manufacturer or seller to repair damaged goods within a period of time

False Economy where you think you are making a saving in the short term but end up paying more in the long run e.g. not getting a car serviced

Fit for their purpose Example: a washing machine must be capable of washing clothes, a combined fridge freezer must be capable of freezing food.
Merchantable Quality Reasonable Quality
As described Example:the wallpaper or carpet you receive should be the same as the sample shown to you in the shop when you order it.
Ombudsman s a representative of the people. The Ombudsman will investigate complaints by members of the republic who have a problem with certain organisations.
