TermDefinition
Margins The blank areas at the top, bottom, and sides of a document that you can change.
Alignment Refers to the position of text in between the margins.
Left-align Text is lined up on the left margin.
Right-align Text is lined up on the right margin.
Center-align Text is lined up in the center of the page.
Justify Text is aligned at the left and right margins. Some extra spacing may occur in the middle of sentences to make this occur.
Bullets Any small characters that appear before an item.
Vertical Alignment Refers to the position of text between the top and bottom margins of a page.
Mirrored Margins Instead of having left and right margins, the page has inside and outside margins.
Inside Margin (Also called tha Gutter Margin) The right margin on the left page, and the left margin on the right page.
Outside Margin The right margin on the right page and the left margin on the left page.
Indent The space between the text and the document's margin.
First Line Indent Only the first line of a paragraph is indented.
Negative Indent/Outdent Can be created by dragging the indent markers on the ruler past the left margin.
Hanging Indent In which the first full line of text is not indented, but the following lines are.
Tab Stops/Tabs Marks the place where the insertion point will stop when you press the tab key.
Leaders Solid, dotted, or dashed lines that fill the blank spaces before a tab setting.
Multi-Level List A list with Two or more levels of bullets or numbering.
Outline Number List A numbered multi-level list.
