Work Any activity that requires effort.
Employment Work carried out in return for payment.
Employees People who work for others in return for payment.
Employers People who hire others to do work for them in return for payment.
Labour force All of the people who are available to work.
Unemployment People who are willing and able to work but are unable to find a suitable job.
Redundancy Workers who are let go from their job.
Self-employed People who work for themselves.
Public sector employees Employed by the state e.g. Teachers, Guards.
Private sector employees Not employed by the state, they work for private companies e.g. Carpenters, Factory workers.
Jobseeker's Benefit A sum of money paid to unemployed people on a weekly basis.
Employee Right To feel safe in their job and get a fair wage.
Employee Responsibility To be honest and trustworthy and do a fair day's work.
Organisation structure Shows the position of each person in the organisation from the top down.
Managing Director Responsible for the day-to-day running of the business.
Supervisor Responsible for making sure others carry out their jobs properly.
Human Resources Manager To recruit new staff and provide training for existing employees.
Manual worker Carries out physical work e.g. builder.
Clerical worker Carries out office work e.g. typing, filing.
