Consumer Buy goods for their personal use
Trader Buy goods to resell in the hope of a profit
Brand Name Unique name given to a product to distinguish it from others
Contract Legally binding agreement
Dail Eireann Where consumer laws are passed
Guarantee Written undertaking that the manufacturer will repair or replace faulty item within a set time
Credit Note Written document giving the customer permission to select goods in that shop up to the value stated on the product
Ombudsman person charged with investigating & resolving complaints from consumers
Trade association an organisation representing all or most of the producers or sellers in a particular industry
Small Claims Court A cheap, fast & easy way for consumers to resolve their disputes with providers of goods & services without the need to employ a solicitor
