| Self service | Customer takes a basket or trolley and places everything he/she wishes to buy. The customer goes to a checkout to pay for the goods. Sales assistants look after the stock and guide the customers to the products they want. |
| Counter Service | Customer has the individual attention of the assistant who tries to determine what the customer needs and then shows products and gives advice to the customer. E.g. Jewellery shop. Also known as Personal service. |
| Self selection | Customer can browse and help themselves to the goods on display. Sales assistants are available to give advice and help if needed. E.g. clothes shop |
| Sales representatives | promotes and sells the products or services of a business. |
| Skill | Is something that you learn over time with plenty of practice. E.g. Reading, writing, listening, communicating….. |
| Quality | Is an attribute or a trait that is part of your personality. It is innate as you are born with it. Eg. Patience, organised |
| Communication | The ability to convey information to another person effectively and efficiently. |
| Listening | The ability to accurately receive messages in the communication process. |
| Patience | The willingness or ability to tolerate delay. |
| Organised | You are an efficient person. Your not wasting time looking for things allowing you to complete tasks faster. |
| Enthusiastic | Having or showing intense and eager enjoyment. |
| Persuasive | Having the power to convince or influence someone's decision. |
| Confident | Believing in your ability. |
