| proofread | when you check a document for mistakes and to make sure it make sense |
| cut | when you select and remove text |
| copy | when you duplicate text |
| paste | when you cut or copy text to a new location |
| synonym | words that have similar meanings |
| format | the way text looks and the way it is arranged on a page |
| font | the shape of the letters, numbers, and other characters |
| orientation | descibes the direction of the page or the paper you will print on |
| alignment | describes whether the text is lined up on the left, right, center, or across the page |
| bulleted list | inserts dots called bullets before each item; can use other characters, such as diamonds; presents information in no particular order |
| numbered list | inserts a number before each item; automatically uses consecutive numbers; lists infomation in specific order |
| margin | the space around the sides, top, and bottom of the paper |
| default | a setting that the computer automatically sets unless you change it |
| tab | a set distance for moving the insertion point |
| indent | determines the distance of a paragraph from either the left or right margin |
| quotation | the exact words that someone else wrote or said |
| header | shows information at the top of the page |
| footer | shows information at the bottom of the page |
| citation | the detailed information about a source |
| title page | the seperate page at the beginning of a report or research paper |
| desktop publishing | applications that allow you to use text, graphics, photographs, and other features to create newsletters, brochures, Web pages, and simalar documents |
| WordArt | a feature in Microsoft Word that allows you to create colorful, eye-catching text by taking your letters or words and changing them into a picture or graphic |
| table | a grid of rows and columns that organizes complex information so that it is easy to find and understand |
| column | the information that is arranged vertically in a table |
| row | the information that is arranged horizontally in a table |
