TermDefinition
Word Processing Software that is used to create and edit text documents
Edit To change or rewrite your document to improve it
Proofread When you check to make sure the document makes sense and there are no errors in spelling, grammar, or punctuation
Cut when you cut text, you select and remove it
Copy you can copy, or duplicate, text in a document so that it appears exactly the same in another part of your document
Paste You can paste, or place text as you edit the letter you created in the previous exercise
Synonyms Words that have similar meanings
Format Refers to the way text looks and the way it is arranged on a page
Font Tha shape of the letters, numbers, and other characters
Orientation Describes the direction of the page or the paper you will print on
Alignment Describes whether the text is lined up on the left, right, center, or across the page
Bulleted Lists One of the two kinds of lists you will usually find in documents. On this one you insert dots called bullets before each item.
Numbered lists Another one of the two kinds of lists you will usually find in documents. On this on you insert a number before each item.
Margin THe space around the sides, top, and bottom of the paper
Default A setting that ther computer automatically selects unless you change it.
Tab A set distance for moving the insertion point
Indent Determines the distance of a paragraph from either the left or right margin
Quotation The exact words that someone else wrote or said
Header Shows information at the top of each page
Footer Shows information at the bottom of each page
Citation The detailed information about each source
Title Page A seperate page at the begginning of a report or research paper
Desktop Publishing Allows you to use texts, graphics, photographs, and other features to create newsletters, brochures, web pages, and similar documents
WordArt A feature in microsoft word that allows you to create colorful, eye-catching text by taking your letters or words and changing them into a picture or graphic
Table A grid of rows and columns and organizes complex information that is arranged horizontally

Row The information that is arranged horizontily
Column the information that is arranged vertically
