Logical Fallacies

Rhetorical Terms for AP Language

TermDefinition/Example
Bandwagon a particular activity or cause that has suddenly become fashionable or popular. Ex: Nobody respected the Miami Heat then they won two championships now people respect them and root for them.
Circular Reasoning providing evidence for the validity of an assertion, which assumes the validity of the assertion. Ex"A is true because A is true" or "A is true because B is true, and B is true because A is true".
False Analogy is where an invalid conclusion is drawn from a comparison between two apparently similar situations Ex:Water is liquid and is good for you to drink. Engine oil is also liquid and must therefore be good to drink.
