The principles of Design

What is formal Balance? when parts of design are equally distributed
What is informal balance? when parts of design aren't identical but are equal in visual weight
What is vertical balance? top and bottom parts equal
what is horizontal balance? left and right parts equal
what is radial balance? elements radiate out from design
what is gradation? designs increased or decreased in size
what is radiation? lines or designs move out from center point
repetition design copied or repeated
continuous line creates continuous line for eye to follow
proportion/scale how design is visually divided
emphasis one object or item stands out
unity/harmony all elements and principles of design work together to create harmony.
