Unit 2

Computer It is an electronic devicethat processes data.
Personal computer Is used by one person at a time.
Central processing unit It is like the computer's brain.
bit It is the smallest unit of information, always either 1 or 0.
Byte The building block for all information that flows though a computer.
Random-Access memory This memory is permanate information on your computer.
Read-only memory This memory is tempoary information that your computer uses only when you work with a particular file.
Storage device Such as a hard drive,a server,or a disk.
Software Is a set of instrustions
save as You can duplicate,or copy, a file by using the save as command.
shortcut A icon that is a direct link to a file or folder.
drive is the largest storage area.
folder Is a place to save and organize files, such as documents or pictures.
file Is a collection of data.
keyword Is a word [or words] keyed into a search box that matches the topic you are looking for.
continent seach Look for information from a list of categories and topics.This is like using a table of contents.
keyword search Key one or more keywords.
Hardware Is the collection of physical devices that make up your computer system.
Input is when a user enters info. into a computer system.
output Is when a computer delevers info. back to a user.
Operating System Software is the main program that makes your computer work.
Network Is a group of computers connected together.
