Computer An electronic device that processes data.
personal computer (pc) Is used by one persona t a time. desktop and laptop computers, MP3 players, and personal digital assistants are all examples of PC's wich are also called microcomputers.
central processsing unit(cpu) a small chip that performs calculations and carries out all instruction s given to a computer (also knows as microsprosesser)
bit The smallest unit of information, always either a 1 or 0.
byte a byte is 8 bits and is the building block for all other units of informtaion
hardware the physical devices taht make up a computer system
input information entered into a computer
output the information a computer delivers back to the user
random-acess memory (RAM) The temporary information that a computer uses only when it works with a particular file
Read-only memory (rom) the permanet information on your hard drive
storage device when you save a file, you move the information from a ram to a storage device such as a hard drive, a server, or a disk.
software a computer program that contains a set of instructins that make is possible for your computer to perform tasks
operating system (OS) the overall program that contols all the other software programs and allows devices to work properly
Network A group of computers connected together
