| personal computer (pc) | a computer that is used by one person at a time. |
| central proccessing unit (cpu) | the brain of the computer. |
| bit | is the smaller unit of info. |
| byte | the building block for all info thaat flows through a computer. |
| hardware | is a collection of physical devices that makes up your computer system. |
| input | is when a user enters info into a computer. |
| output | is when a computer delivers info back to a user. |
| random access memory (ram) | the temporary info that a computer uses only when it works with a particualer file. |
| read only memory (rom) | the permanant info on your hard drive. |
| storage device | such as a hard drive, a server or a disk. |
| software | is a set of instructions that makes it possible for your coumputer to preform tasks. |
| operating system (os) | is thes main progtram that makes your computer work. |
| network | is a group of computers connected together. |
| drive | largest storage area |
| folder | a place to save and organize files |
| file | a collection of data |
| save as | lets you rename files |
| shortcut | an icon that is a direct link to a file or folder |
| keyword | a word (or words) keyed into a search box that matches the topic you arae looking for |
| content search | look for info from a list of categories and topics |
| keyword search | key one or more keywords |
