Color Terms

QuestionAnswer
What are the primary colors? Red, Blue, and Yellow
What are the secondary colors? Orange, violet, and green
What are the tertiary colors? Red-orange, red-violet, blue-violet, blue-green, yellow-green, and yellow-orange
What are tints and shades? Tints make a pure color lighter by adding white. Shades make a pure color darker by adding black
What are the warm and cool colors Warm colors are red, orange, and yellow. Cool colors are blue, green, and violet.
What are the neutral colors? Black, grey, white, brown, and tan.
What is the monochromatic color harmony? Tints and shades of only one color
What is the analogous color harmony? Colors that are next to each other on the color wheel.
What is the complementary color harmony? 2 colors that are across from each other on the color wheel.
What is the triadic color harmony? Colors that are equal distances for each other on the color wheel
What is the split complementary color harmony? Created by using any color and the 2 colors next to that colors complement.
What is a neutral color harmony? a combination of black, grey, white, brown, or tan
